NEW for 2015-2016! Gradebook Access for Students and Parents

Last year students and parents were able to view grades online using Pinnacle.  This year our district is moving to a program called Skyward.  Because of the setup and transition associated with this new program, unfortunately we do not anticipate that students and parents will be able to access grades online during the first few weeks of school.  During this time, if students and/or parents have a question about grades, please contact individual teachers.  We will post the date when the grades will be available online and follow up with a letter with your new login information. We appreciate your patience and look forward to the new Family Portal in Skyward!

Honors placement letters and PSSA scores

Letters regarding KMS honors placement have been processed and mailed.  Regarding individual student PSSA scores, we have yet to receive the PSSA Parent Letters from the state of Pennsylvania.  We appreciate your patience and expect the letters sometime in September.  Thank you and please call 610-268-5800 if you have any questions!

KMS Sports

Try-outs for KMS sports will begin Tuesday, September 8.  In order to try-out for sports, students MUST have a physical, done after June 1, 2015, on file with the school nurse. Students will be unable to participate in try-outs without a physical (done after June 1, 2105) and without the sports packet submitted to the KMS school nurse.

To all,

We are getting closer to the start of the football season and I wanted to share some important dates with all of you. I also wanted to let you know what equipment we supply and what equipment you will need to bring.

The information provided below is a preliminary schedule however I don’t expect anything will substantially change.

August 17th

1:30-3:00 Equipment distribution and locker assignment.

3:00-3:30 Team meeting (players).

3:30-5:30 Practice (helmets, shorts, and t-shirts).

August 18th

3:00-3:30 Team meeting

3:30-5:30 practice (helmets, shorts, t-shirts).

August 19th, 20th, and 21rst

3:00-3:30 Team meeting

3:30-5:30 practice (helmets, shoulder pads, shorts)

-         There will be no contact the first week  -

August 24th - 28th

3:00-3:30 Team meeting

3:30-5:30 Practice (Full pads)

-         There will be full contact this week   -

We supply:

-         Practice pants and jerseys.

-         Thigh pads, knee pads, and hip and tailbone pads. (we do not supply a girdle for the hip and tail bone pads).

-         Shoulder pads

-         Helmet

-         Mouth pieces

-         Game pants and jersey (might not be distributed until right before our first game).

-         Lockers (no locks)

You supply

-         Cleats

-         Girdle (some of these come with pads in them which is fine).

-         T-shirt to wear under shoulder pads.

-         Special mouth pieces for braces.

-         Lock for your locker!!

-         The fee to play is $185.00

We will distribute the equipment right outside our locker room which is located behind the visitor bleaches at the High school varsity field. As soon as all the kids have their equipment we will assign lockers to everyone. This will be their locker for the rest of the year and they will store their equipment every day so they don’t have to haul it back and forth. (That being said you may want to have a talk with your son about bringing home their sweaty clothes once in a while to wash them)…..there is a unique smell that emulates from the locker room at times.

Once school starts the kids will be bused to the High school at the end of each school day. Weekday practices are from 3:30-5:30 and you will pick your son up at the high school field. We will have all of our games on Wednesday starting with the eighth grade at 3:00 and starting the 7th grade game immediately following (usually about 4:15). Thursdays are our film days and practice will end at 4:15 typically. We are working on trying to get a scrimmage scheduled with Fuggett Middle school however I have not been given the official time or date.

I am really looking forward to another successful season. We will continue our lifting on Mondays and Thursdays from 6-7:30 for the next couple weeks on a strictly voluntary basis, so please feel free to have your son join us.

Don’t forget to have all the physical forms completed before August 17th and turn in to the middle school or bring to practice on the 17th. The forms can be found on the KCSD website.

Coach Beeson

PS- as the year goes on I will be needing some parent volunteers to work the chains at our home games and also will be looking for someone to film and announce the games. Please let me know if you are interested.

Bus Passes

This is a reminder that due to the number of students assigned to each bus, the school is not able to grant bus passes.  This policy has been posted on our webpage for the past few years. Absence, Early Dismissal, Late Arrival procedures

The following is the procedure for absences, early dismissals and late arrivals at KMS.

If your child is absent on a given day, please call the school, (610) 268 5878, to notify us. Additionally, a note MUST be sent in upon your child’s return to school; without the note, your child’s absence will be considered unexcused.

Early Dismissals
If you know you will be picking your child up during school hours, please send a note in with your child on that day stating the time they are to be dismissed from class. The school will issue your child a pass to come to the office at that time. You must come into the Main Office to sign your child out.

Late Arrivals - In the event your child will be late to school, your child MUST sign in with the Attendance Secretary, located in the Guidance Office.  Please send your child in with a note stating the reason for their tardiness. Pick ups AFTER the school day - If you choose to pick your child up after the school day, the arrangement is between you and your child.  KMS does not need a note for after school pick ups.
