Student Council is excited to announce that starting on Monday Feb. 29th we will be hosting the first ever KMS Throwback Thriftshop! The Thrift-shop will be open during all 3 lunches, so come snag some retro Kennett jerseys, athletic shorts, sweatpants and more! All items are $1 or you can buy 6 items for $5, what a deal! Any of these throwback spirit items would be perfect to show your KMS Pride next Friday for Blue and White day during spirit week as well as for the Student Faculty Basketball game that night.

Attention 7th and 8th grade students interested in joining the KMS Track Team this Spring.

There will be an informational meeting after school on Monday, February 29 in the small gym from 2:45 until 3pm.

Any girls interested in trying out for softball please stop by Coach Gottstein’s room (D103) on Wednesday, March 2nd for information on tryouts. Tryouts will begin Wednesday, March 9th.

7th Grade Baseball tryouts will begin on Tuesday March 1st. All players should report to the main lobby immediately after school on March 1st to meet up with Coach James. Bring your glove, sneakers, any bats you plan on using during tryouts, and a light jacket. You will not need spikes, helmets, or catchers gear on Tuesday. You must have a ride available to pick you up promptly at 5pm. Carpooling and ride-sharing is encouraged.

This week is spirit week at KMS. We are getting ready for the Student-faculty basketball game that will be played on Friday, March 4th. No hair paint should be used during spirit week.

Tomorrow (3/1) – Twin Day: Find a friend (or group of friends) to dress alike with today!

Wednesday (3/2) – Color Wars: Each grade has a different color – show your spirit by dressing in as much of your grade’s color as possible! 6thgrade: BLUE, 7th grade: GREEN, 8th grade: BLACK

Thursday (3/3) – Throwback Thursday: Reminisce about the past and dress up like you belong in your favorite decade (the 60s, 70s, 80s or 90s!)

Friday (3/4) – KMS Spirit: Show your KMS pride by wearing Blue and White! And then join us at the Student-Faculty basketball game tonight!

Spotlight on Panamanian Teachers Visit

On Wednesday, February 10, 2016, twenty teachers from Panama came to visit and observe Kennett Middle School. They are in the United States taking classes at the University of Delaware in connection with the University of Panama. Amazed with the awesome things going on at Kennett Middle School, the teachers had a wonderful day talking to students and staff and sharing information about IMG_2797their schools in Panama. The teachers were even able to visit our one-of-a-kind after school activities during After-the-Bell. What a great experience for everyone involved!

Please check the board outside of the Cafeteria to make sure your name is listed under the appropriate sport. You must have written parent consents and sports physical to be cleared for try outs.

Kennett High School will be dancing all night in their first ever MiniThon on Friday, February 26th, to benefit the Four Diamonds Organization. Four Diamonds is an organization that provides financial assistance to families with children suffering with childhood cancer. The High School needs our help! To keep students hydrated over the many hours of dancing, they need unopened bottles of water. KMS is collecting bottles of water to help this cause. Please bring your donations to Mrs. Matthias’ room in B101. Donations will be accepted through February 26th. Let’s band together and help our high school and show our KMS Pride.

The next yearbook meeting is February 25th. Again, the next yearbook meeting is February 25th. Pick up is at 3:30pm.

We missed 20 students during gym classes, so we are doing scoliosis screenings for 12 girls at 9:40 and 8 boys at 10:20 today in the nurse’s office.

These students will be given passes during first period. Please come to the nurse at the scheduled time.

Spotlight on the KMS Treble Choir

We are so proud of our KMS Treble Choir! On Wednesday, February 17, 2016, the KMS Treble Choir, the director Mrs. Pattie Mancuso, and many KMS parents, traveled down to Liacouras Center.

The talented young ladies were chosen to sing the National Anthem at the Villanova vs. Temple basketball game. Congratulations, ladies! We are so proud of you!
