Monday, March 7th

Reminder for all 8th grade boys trying out for the baseball team. Tryouts begin today at Piedmont until 5:00. Please come fully prepared. If you have any questions please see Mr Robinson

Softball tryouts begin March 9th with Ms. Gottstein.

To all incoming Freshman trying out for the girls soccer team, the KHS Girls Soccer wiki page is up on Connect and all information for training and pre-season can be found on that page. If girls have any questions please stop by to see Coach Gottstein for further information.

A big thank you to everyone who sang, danced, volunteered, and/or played in Friday night’s Student-Faulty basketball game. It was a blast as the students pulled out to a commanding double-digit lead in the first quarter only to come up short. Great game students and staff!

Students, please remember to return your conference sheets asap as conference will be next Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday.

The Throwback Thriftshop will be open during all 3 lunches this week, so come snag some retro Kennett jerseys, athletic shorts, sweatpants and more! All items are $1 or you can buy 6 items for $5, what a deal! Any of these throwback spirit items would be perfect to show your KMS Pride on Friday for Blue and White day and the Student Faculty Basketball game.

Attention perspective KHS Girls Soccer Players – the “KHS Girls Soccer” wiki page is up on Connect and that all information about trainings and pre-season can be found on that page.

Girls Leadership participants, please meet Mrs. Stoudemire in the guidance office immediately following this announcement for a few brief details about tomorrow’s field trip!

Any girls interested in trying out for softball please stop by Coach Gottstein’s room (D103) TODAY for information on tryouts. Tryouts will begin Wednesday, March 9th.

7th Grade Baseball tryouts will begin on Tuesday March 1st. All players should report to the main lobby immediately after school on March 1st to meet up with Coach James. Bring your glove, sneakers, any bats you plan on using during tryouts, and a light jacket. You will not need spikes, helmets, or catchers gear on Tuesday. You must have a ride available to pick you up promptly at 5pm. Carpooling and ride-sharing is encouraged.

This is a reminder that the next yearbook meeting is TOMORROW. Please make sure to attend the yearbook meeting tomorrow.

Friday (3/4) – KMS Spirit: Show your KMS pride by wearing Blue and White! And then join us at the Student-Faculty basketball game tonight!

If you are participating in the Student-Faculty Game, please see Mrs. Bevan in room A205 tomorrow, March 3rd, to pick up your t-shirt.

Spring 2016 Parent Conferences Information

Parent/Teacher Conferences for Kennett Middle School have been scheduled for March 16, 17, 18 and school will dismiss at 11:30am on those days. Conferences are held from 11:30am – 3:00pm and also during the evening of Thursday, March 17.

You will meet with your child’s LEAD teacher and discuss his/her academic progress in all classes. Your child should also attend and participate in his/her conference.

Las conferencias para repasar el progreso de su estudiante serán los días 16, 17, 18 de marzo de 2016 y la escuela terminará a las 11:30 de la mañana esos días. Tendremos conferencias a las 11:30am – 3:00pm y el jueves, 17 de marzo hay conferencias por la noche.

Usted va a hablar con el/la maestro/a de LEAD de su hijo/ y ustedes van a discutir su progreso académico en todas sus clases. Los niños deben asistir a y participar en la conferencia.

There will be an informational meeting after school on Monday, February 29 in the small gym from 2:45 until 3pm.

Spotlight on Spirit Week

This week at Kennett Middle School is Spirit Week! The culminating event will be the highly anticipated Students vs. Faculty Basketball Game on Friday, March 4, 2016 at 7:00pm. Tickets are $5 per individual or $10 per family. During Spirit Week, which is sponsored and organized by the Kennett Middle School Student Council, there is a special theme for each day.

Monday (2/29) – Happiness Day: Wear the brightest, happiest clothes that you can find in your closet. There will be a happiness-themed photo booth for students (and teachers!) at all lunches. Also, as a surprise for the students as they walked in this morning, teachers prepared happy quotes on Post-it Notes and put them on students’ lockers! This day was planned as an early celebration of International Happiness Day which is on March 20, 2016.

Tuesday (3/1) – Twin Day: Find a friend (or group of friends) to dress alike with today!

Wednesday (3/2) – Color Wars: Each grade has a different color – show your spirit by dressing in as much of your grade’s color as possible! sixth grade: blue, seventh grade: green, eight grade: black

Thursday (3/3) – Throwback Thursday: Reminisce about the past and dress up like you belong in your favorite decade (the 60s, 70s, 80s or 90s!)

Friday (3/4) – Kennett Middle School Spirit: Show your Kennett Middle School pride by wearing Blue and White! And then join us at the Student-Faculty basketball game tonight!

In addition to each day having a theme, Kennett Middle School’s first ever Throwback Thrift Shop will be open for business during all lunches! The Throwback Thrift Shop offers jerseys, warm-ups, and uniforms from former Blue Demon sports teams for $1 per item or 6 items for $5.
