STEM Family Night

We are excited to announce the first annual STEM Family Night at Kennett Consolidated School District. We have created this fun filled evening to encourage dynamic interactions among family members and increase awareness regarding the STEM opportunities at Kennett.

The activities focus on applications of STEM principles that encourage families to build, create, and learn together.
Members of our staff and our students have volunteered to host a variety of stations. These stations include engineering challenges, liquid Nitrogen ice cream preparation, chemistry demonstrations, Blue Demon Robotics, dragster races, 3-D printing, math games, puzzles, and computer apps. The stations are designed so children ages kindergarten through 8th grade can explore the underlying principles of science and engineering.

The event will be hosted at Kennett Middle School on June 7th starting at 6:30 PM. The STEM Family Night is just one of a number of STEM opportunities we offer our Kennett children. We hope that you will consider joining us and share this experience with your children.

Please contact Dr. Lydia Hallman if you have questions or comments regarding the evening.

Attention 8th Grade Students, as with yesterday’s career day, today is another day for you to show your Kennett Pride. We all hope that you enjoy hearing the Holocaust Survivor’s story today.

In addition, please be mindful that today is a Kennett Square Power Up day for all students!

Have you ever heard of Braeden’s Brown Bags? No? Well, the organization that has started this official public charity foundation is called 3B ripples. And they need our help! In addition to packing and delivering brown bags containing food to people and places in need, we also host events and fundraisers to help raise money for organizations who are also fighting to end hunger. Think about how you feel when you’re hungry. Now, understand that 48.8 million Americans—including 16.2 million children— live in households that lack the means to get enough nutritious food on a regular basis.

Want to help? Beginning today through Thursday, June 9th there will be bins at the front of each wing for food donations to homeless shelters around Kennett Square. You can bring food donations and drop them off in the bins, or you can donate money in the office. Just give it to the secretaries and say it’s for Braeden’s Brown Bags. Every penny goes into raising awareness about food insecurity and in packing and delivering brown bags for homeless and low-income populations. Make it a point to donate and help out.
