Tis the season to be thankful and extend ourselves to those less fortunate. Each grade is preparing for this years adopt a family fundraisers. Make sure you remember your donations that go to this very good cause! How else can you support those in need? You can bring a new toy in and donate it to Toys for Tots. The main office has a collection box.

FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes) will be having its next huddle this Thurs, Dec 1 @ 6:50AM. We will meet in Mr. Bowling’s room, B104. Please try to be on time. Breakfast will be served! This week’s talk will be student-led – discussing a topic that most middle schoolers can relate to. Bring a friend! We invite all KMS students to come and check it out!! Please see Emma Schmidt and Kayleigh Zubrod with any questions about what FCA is.

Tuesday, November 29, 2016 Day 1

” Attention Reading Olympic Participants: There will be a Reading Olympics meeting in the library at all lunches today. Also, if you are still interested in participating in Reading Olympics this year, but have not turned in your permission form, it’s not too late. Please see Mrs. McGarvey in the library this week as Chester County formal registration is due next week.”

There will be no yearbook meeting this week. The next meeting will be held on Tuesday December 6th until 330 in Mrs. Lozadas room B001.

PICTURE THIS!

During the first week of October, approximately fifty Kennett Middle School students toured the Brandywine River Museum and a special exhibit held there on children’s picture book illustrations, entitled “Picture This.” Their purpose for attending was to gather ideas for alphabet picture books that they will create over the next few months and share with students at the Mary D. Lang Kindergarten Center in the spring. Students universally declared the field trip a success with one student giving it a “ten out of ten.”

Monday, November 14, 2016 Day 4

Congratulations to 8th grader Amber Daddezio for winning the district level round of the International Peace Poster Contest sponsored by the Lions Club. Amber’s poster will now move on to the next round of judging at the county level. Great job Amber!

Attention those of you who have handed in your signed permission form to participate in the Youth Dance Program Mondays after school. The first class starts today, after school, in the cafeteria. You can still hand in your signed permission form today.

Attention all 7th & 8th grade students. The winter cheerleading season will begins tomorrow Tuesday, November 15th. All physical examination forms must be turned into the nurse before practice begins. Coach Schuessler will meet all eligible students at the school store following dismissal Tuesday. Practice will be held from 2:45-4:00. See you there!

Coffee with the Counselors

Kennett Middle School hosted an amazingly successful Coffee with the Counselor this week! The topic was Social Media and Cyber Safety. Double the number of parents from our initial session last month attended, and number of parents who were unable to attend expressed an interest in the information and resources. 7th and 8th grade Girls who plan to try out for Cheer leading or Basketball next week, check the lists posted outside of the cafeteria today to make sure you are cleared. ALL girls must have a sports physical and consents on file with Mrs. Shannon.

Attention 8th grade students – Please remember to dress for the weather for our trip to Philadelphia tomorrow. Any student who would like a bag lunch for the trip should report to the cafeteria during breakfast tomorrow to pick one up. Students will arrive at school at the normal time, but pick-up will be at 4pm, so please make arrangements. Students who have parents chaperoning the trip should check-in with homeroom and then report immediately back to the front lobby where they can escort their parent onto the bus. Students not attending the trip will report to F109 at the conclusion of homeroom.
