Picture day is today. You got a form in first period. Bring that with your fabulous smile for your picture taken during Language Arts class.

ALL Students will have their vision checked when they come to the gym for Pictures. Please remember to bring your glasses to the gym! However, we will still check your vision if you forgot your glasses at home.

1st FCA Huddle of the School Year will be Thurs, Oct 5th in Mr Bowlings room (B104) at 6:50am. FCA stands for Fellowship of Christian Athletes. The group talks about how to impact others and the world by combining sports with faith. There are inspiring talks, guest speakers, fun games and food! You do NOT have to be on a school sports team to be a part of this group. All students from all grades are welcome! Breakfast is provided (usually donuts) and it’s a great and uplifting way to start your day! Come and check it out next Thursday before school.

8th grade students interested in participating in the all-new Writing Club should attend a lunch time meeting either today or tomorrow in Mrs. Hahn’s room, A207. Passes will be distributed in homeroom today for students who already signed up. If you did not receive a pass, but would like to learn more about the club, stop by A207.

The girls soccer team won their game in a comeback fashion scoring two goals in the second half to beat Engle Middle School 2-1. Goals were scored by Ella Burnham and Emma Davies. The defense was led by Kourtney Russel, Kylie Winterling, Mary Harper and goal keeper Brooke Mosley. Congratulations ladies.

Thursday, September 28, 2017 Day 4

The 7th grade boys soccer team played a tough game against Oxford yesterday, with the game ending in a 1 to 1 tie. Scoring Kennett’s only goal was Geovanni Soto. Goalie Justin Correa made several great saves, supported by strong defending from Jose Sanchez-Luna, Zach Mannices, and Reagan Pelletier.  The next boys soccer game is away this Friday against Avon Grove.

In a total team effort, the 8th grade Field Hockey team defeated Chichester by a score of 4-0. The Blue Demons were on the attack early and often. Led by Kaylah Butler, Maya Ranganath, Sarah Hetrick, Ellie Hogan, and Meredith Day took a 2-0 lead in to half time on goals by Vivian Chiumento and Genevieve Ebaugh. Brooke Traver had two assists on the day while Kristina Frey and Gianna Wuchter helped control the middle of the field. In the second half, Baily Halstead added to the Demons lead with a break-away goal. With her second goal, Ebaugh would put the game out of reach with a blast from the top of the circle on a penalty corner, making the score 4-0. Excellent play from the defense of Corrina Kley, Julianne Staudenmeyer, and Elise Arena, Anna Tresoldi made 4 saves to earn her first shutout of the season. Way to go Kennett!

Tuesday, September 26, 2017 Day 2

Today is the Day….After-The-Bell starts today! Right after school come to the cafeteria for a healthy snack and lots of fun. After-The-Bell is a free after school program that runs for 6 weeks on Tuesdays, Wednesday and Thursdays.

If you are a new student that entered our district over the summer or after school started, this is for you! There will be an ice cream social today in the cafeteria for all new students. Your homeroom teacher will give you a pass. Please come to the cafeteria at 1:30, which is 19 minutes after period 8 starts. Yes, there will be ice cream!

Playing strong defense for Kennett and barely letting the ball cross center field were defenders Reagan Pelletier and Zach Mannices. Goals were scored by Cooper Seele, Geovanni Soto, and Ryan Beley. Congratulations to the entire team for the win. The next boys soccer game is tomorrow, home, against Penns Grove.

Congratulations goes out to the cross-country team in their back to back races, one away on Friday, and our home meet yesterday. Boys are doing an outstanding job of consistently placing in their meets. They won their first home meet against Stetson 25-30 and continue to train hard. Hats off to Logan Piercy, Miko Davidson-Hance, Kendal Lanier, Luca Tresoldi, and Marco King, with an honorable shout out to Gabe Pardo for their strong performances in the sweltering heat. Not to be outdone, Maddy Brooks, Anna Jiang, and Curie Cha managed to also place in top spots. Way to go to all our XC runners, you make your coach proud with your effort, kindness, and sportsmanship. Continue to cheer each other on and shave off time! Remember to all get your forms in for FUN FRIDAY TOO!!

In a wonderful collaboration, Kennett Middle School will decorate a holiday tree at Longwood Gardens. Our talented art teachers will be hosting a Holiday Crafting Club after school where students will help make holiday ornaments for the Kennett Middle School Christmas tree. In addition to making ornaments for the Kennett Middle School tree, Holiday Crafting Club members will make a few ornaments for their own trees.

Here is a note about the calendar. In two week, on Thursday, it is progress report time. THat is Thursday, September 28th. Make sure you are staying up on all of your classwork.

A round of Congratulations goes out to our KMS Cross-Country Team for their big W against Patton Middle School. They won their first race by 6 points. Great job to our top finishers including Logan Piercy, Kendal Lanier, Miko Davidson-Hance, Luca Tresoldi and Marco King. Not to be outdone, our girls are working hard to catch the boys. Hats off to girls, Maddy Fritz, Anna Jiang, and Maddie Brooks. Can’t wait to see what our next meet brings at the end of this week. GO KMS XC!

Texas Teachers of Tomorrow, is an organization matching Texas schools harmed from Hurricane Harvey and other school districts. We are teaming up with Patton Middle School in Unionville. This organization has provided us a list of supplies our matched school has requested. Our project is launching today and will run through Friday, October 13th. KMS will collect supplies, cash, and gift cards. All donations from BOTH schools will be sent to our matched junior high school in Texas in the name of Kennett Middle and Patton Middle.
