Attention KMS Students: There are only 2 more days of Red Ribbon Week remaining so let’s make them count. There is nothing better than a good friend, and we hope that you and a good friend took the time to match outfits today. Please sit with your friend at lunch so we can see your creativity and friendship! Everybody needs a Partner Against Crime, and even if you aren’t twinning with someone today, you should always have the strength to step up and protect your friends in difficult situations! Don’t be a partner in crime…be a partner against crime! Also, Tomorrow is Wear Red Day. Show your commitment to staying drug and alcohol free by wearing something red to school. Wear red socks…or a red sweater. Pick out your outfit tonight so you don’t forget.

Attention students, Battlebots will start Wednesday November 8. There will be information and consent forms available during lunch November 1,2,3 and 6. Mrs.Burns will be at a table during lunch those days advertising and available to answer any questions.

The 8th grade field hockey team defeated Octorara by a score of 5-1. Vivian Chiomento earned the Hat Trick with 3 goals, Meredith Day and Gianna Wuchter each added a goal. Genevieve Ebaugh drove the ball well all day and had an assist. The offense of Brooke Trevor, Ellie Hogan, Maya Ranganath, Baily Halstead and Kaylah Butler kept the pressure on the Braves. While the defense of Julianne Staudenmeyer, Corrina Kley, and Sarah Hetrick helped Goal Keeper Anna Tresoldi preserve the win for the Demon

The KMS football teams had two big wins yesterday against Penns Grove Middle School improving their overall record to 10-3. The eighth grade was led by scoring plays by Colby Bushweller, Dylon Boddy, and Jake Freeberry. Defensively Brady Mitchell and Cole Hulme both had key interceptions. The final score was 22-0. The seventh grade who remains undefeated at 6-0 dominated the game and was led by scoring plays by Julian Sparacino, Casey Rose, and Collin Jung. Defensively the team smothered the Penns Grove offense and Zac Hulme had an interception. The final score 22-6.

The 7th grade boys soccer game won an impressive 7 to 1 victory over Great Valley yesterday. Leading the defense and making several key saves was goalie Justin Correa. Scoring for Kennett were Ryan Barker and Edwin Bedolla each with 3 goals, and Jiovanni Carrillo with one. Great job team!

The 7th grade boys soccer team defeated South Brandywine yesterday 7 to 0. Ryan Barker led the offense scoring 3 goals. Also scoring for Kennett were strikers Geovanni Soto, Edwin Bedolla, and Manny Guzman. Congratulations to the entire team for the win!

The 7th grade field hockey team brought down undefeated Avon Grove in a 2-1 win. Stellar defense by Britney Sedano and Haley Holder. Goals were scored by Raina Bickle and Megan Ward. Georgia Fay and Maddie Sears were both strong with goalie saves. Shout out to Sarah Burns on her upper left corner penalty shot! A fantastic job and a whole team effort. A great win to start the week. Keep up the great work girls!

“It’s time for the Maker Space Madness Challenge. For the week of October 23rd through the 27th, makers will be challenged to build the longest bridge that stays up for the lunch period. Are you up for the challenge? Come to the library to sign up and reserve your spot for the October Maker Space Madness Challenge!​”

Last Thursday the 7th grade team defeated Stetson 3-0. Two goals were scored by Raina Bickle and one by Megan Ward. Mid field was dominant and defense held tight the entire game. A great job by all! Come see them today take on Avon Grove after school at home. Go seventh grade!

This weekend the Kennett Middle School was represented at the Malvern prep regional invitational swim meet for grade schoolers.   The team of Liam Simmons , Tyler Tebo , Luke Silverstein and Tommy Janton took first place over all. The high point winner for 7th and 8th grade was the blue demon’s own, Tommy Janton.   Congratulations boys!! We look forward to more successes!!!

KMS PTO Dance – October 20, 2017 – 7:00pm-9:00pm

Reminders about KMS Dances:

– The dance is from 7:00pm-9:00pm.

– Please arrive no earlier than 6:45pm; doors open at 7:00pm.

– The cost of the dance is $5.

– IDs are not required; the dance is for KMS students only.

– Food and drinks will be on sale in the cafeteria.

– There is basketball in the small gym.

– Students may leave belongings (coats, purses, bags, cell phones) in B104.

– There is no running in the gym or in the hallways.

– Everyone should be nice to each other and show their Kennett PRIDE at the dance.

– It is important for students to be picked up on time. Parents should arrive by 8:45pm.

Kennett middle school will be represented for the first time as a swim team at Malvern Preparatory School this weekend, for a regional invitational meet. Tommy Janton, Liam Simmons, Tyler Tebo and Luke Silverstein, all from separate club teams, will swim together for the Kennett Blue Demons.   The boys will compete in two relays and other individual events. Let’s wish them good luck.   We look forward to hearing how they do against the twenty or so another schools competing.

The 7th grade football team improved their record to 5-0 with a win over previously undefeated Great Valley. A dominating defense and scoring by Julian Sparacino and Zac Hume led the way to a 22-6 victory. The 8th grade lost a tough game 20-14 with scoring by Colby Bushweller and Dylon Boddy.

This is a special shout out to the top runners who ran in yesterday’s Cross-Country Championship Race. Couldn’t be prouder to celebrate the top times and personal records set by all the runners on the course! Big high fives to Logan Piercy, Kendal Lanier, Luca Tresoldi, Divan Du Toit, Grayson Zubrod, Marco King, Jeffrey Kjelstrom, Maddy Fritz, Anna Jiang, Maddy Brooks, Curie Cha, Lily Steffenson, Kaelyn Doherty, and Abby McConn who conquered their set goals and came out with Personal Records. What a fantastic celebration of personal victories. Way to go team! We have two races left and challenge all of Kennett Middle School to join us in our last race of the season, the MONSTER MASH, at Anson B. Nixon Park! Come out and walk or run the course to see how much fun being a part of the cross-country experience can be. Don’t forget to list yourself as a KMS participant when you register! In yesterday’s game against Stetson Middle School, the 7th grade boys put on another fantastic team performance and won 3 to 1. Scoring for Kennett was Edwin Bedolla, Ryan Barker, and Geovanni Soto. Congratulations to the entire team for their wins this week. Also, a reminder for 7th grade boys soccer, there is NO practice today, and remember to bring your blue jersey for pictures on Friday.

First Kennett PRIDE Commercial

In conjunction with Kennett Middle School’s Kennett PRIDE initiative, we’ve begun to produce short commercials to run on the KMS morning announcements. Each commercial is designed to highlight a specific behavior found on our PRIDE matrix. This week, we aired our first commercial, which you can see below, illustrating the expectations for when class is interrupted with a school-wide announcement, fire drill, or even the morning news broadcast.

Congratulations to the girls soccer team on a 6-0 victory over North Brandywine. Goals were scored by Sidney Bruschster, Nicole Eveland, Mary Harper and Clair Harper. Brooke Moskey had the shutout in goal. Great job ladies.

Congrats to our xc team who competed in their last home race against Fugett yesterday. Our girls have been breaking down the point differential in their runs all season. In fact, there was only a one point spread in the final points earned when compared to our boys. Way to make strides ladies! A special thanks goes out to all our fans and supporters cheering from the sidelines. It was a great day for a race! Good luck to our XC team as they compete in Championships on Wednesday. Stay tuned to hear the top runners and two alternates chosen to run in Wednesday’s County Championships in tomorrow’s announcements!
