ACCESS Testing for Kennett Middle School Starts Monday January 22nd . All students taking the ACCESS should report to the small gym at 7:40 a.m. Monday and Tuesday. You do not need to report to homeroom. Good luck to all the students taking the test.

Attention 8th grade students, You will hold in lunch a few extra minutes and get dismissed at 11:12. You go straight to your LEAD. There you will find out the bus you ride and other details for the trip to KHS. Be thinking of what questions you want to ask about this amazing high school.

Attention students auditioning for Madagascar! Sign-up for your audition time on the Guidance window as soon as possible. Auditions started yesterday and are happening today after school. Next week there are times still available for Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday as well. Don’t forget to pick a time that is best for you AND your parents.

The musical wiki is now live on Connect. The songs are able to be downloaded for you to practice at home before your audition. If you have any questions about auditions or in working back stage for Madagascar but missed the meetings last week, see Mrs. Uster in A004 or Mrs. Coe in B004 IMMEDIATELY.

Thursday, January 18, 2018 Day 3

Attention Student Council members! There will be a Student Council meeting this Thursday January 18th to start planning the events for the rest of the year. The meeting will be held in Mrs. MacNamara’s room, A103, from 2:45-3:30, please arrange to be picked up then. If you can’t make the meeting, please let Mrs. MacNamara, Mrs. Bevan or Ms. Conner know so that we can fill you in.

Hey KMS, the Harlem Wizards are coming to town! This Friday there will be an all school assembly in the gym at 8:30am. Let’s show our Kennett PRIDE by wearing Blue and White and Kennett gear that day. No hair paint or face paint is allowed. They are coming to promote their game against the Kennett teachers on Saturday, February 10 at 6:00pm. All proceeds will benefit the KHS MiniThon.

We have 2 guests joining us this week – Joey Wendle is a 2nd baseman for the Tamp Bay Rays and Nick Mascioli is a strength and conditioning coach for the Pittsburgh Pirates. They are both part of the MLB and will share their testimonies with the students.

Happy Friday! Remember Monday is Martin Luther King Day. Martin Luther King Day falls on the third Monday in January each year. The day celebrates Martin Luther King’s role in civil rights and racial equality.

It was an amazing night at Tuesday nights annual KMS Spelling Bee! It what may be the most rounds in a KMS Bee ever, eighth grader Tiffany Lee was victorious in round 41! Yes, that’s right…41 ROUNDS of spelling! Emma Smith, also an eighth grader, did an amazing job and was the runner-up. Both ladies will receive prizes for their efforts. All spellers will receive certificates at a future school assembly and should be proud of their efforts.

Thank-you to all volunteers and language arts teachers who made the event possible. We are also grateful to Mr. Moore, Mr. Whisler, and all the custodians for helping with the event.

Please wish Tiffany well as she represents our school at the Chester County Spelling Bee on February 9th!

All students interested in performing on stage or working back stage on Stage Crew should listen carefully to these important details and dates:

All stage performers: Actors, singers, dancers, and tumblers: The meetings to teach you how to be prepared for auditions are TOMORROW, January 4th and Friday, January 5th after school from 2:35-4:30 in F103. This is a room change! You should attend one of the meetings, but you may attend both to be more confident and feel more prepared for your audition. If you do not attend one of these meetings, you may not be best prepared to audition. Everyone who performs on stage must audition, but everyone who auditions will be invited to perform in the musical in May.

Students interested in working on Stage Crew: You must attend ONE of the meetings TOMORROW, January 4th OR Friday, January 5th after school from 2:35-3:45 in F103. This is a room change! At this meeting you will hear from Mrs. Coe what the different roles are and what is done back stage. You will pick your top 3 role choices.

Tuesday, January 2, 2018 Day 1

It is always a little confusing what number day it is after a break. We hope you had a refreshing vacation and welcome back. Today is day 1.

This is a reminder, we have 3 weeks left of the second marking period. The last day of the second marking period is Friday, January 19th.

Next week on Tuesday, January 9th we have LEAD 3rd period. We have a status check moving toward every student in the school being #allin. Make sure you Attendance, Learning, and Law are all in check!
