PLEASE come out and show your KMS Spirit-bring everybody you know to walk or run and support our middle school. Hope to see you all there this Sunday!Come one come all!

Each year it is estimated that over 220,000 women in the United States will be diagnosed with breast cancer and more than 40,000 will die. Breast cancer is the second leading cause of cancer death among women in the US and the first leading cause of cancer death among women globally. In the US today, there are more than 3.5 million breast cancer survivors — the largest group of all cancer survivors. Thank you for wearing your pink today to support breast cancer awareness!

The state of PA requires Dental Exams for all 7th grade students. On Monday, October 21, our School Dental Hygienist will begin doing dental exams for 7th graders who have not already provided a report from their private dentist. If you have a dental report from your private dentist at home or in your bookbag, please bring the report to Mrs. Shannon by Monday. Passes will be given to 7th grade students on MONDAY morning during homeroom for those who need to have their teeth checked briefly in the nurse’s office.

Attention Kennett Middle School: on Sunday morning The Kennett Food Cupboard suffered an electrical fire that damaged 50% of their current food inventory. Although they will have to remain closed while repairing the damage, they will be hosting a pop-up food pantry in their driveway to try to continue to serve our community members who rely on them.

Here’s how you can help: Kennett Middle school will be holding an emergency canned food drive tomorrow and Friday of this week – please bring in any Non-perishable food items that you can and put them in the collection bins outside of each grade level hallway. Donations will be delivered to the food cupboard this weekend. Thank you for your help!

Kennett H.S. boys basketball team is hosting a 3 on 3 basketball tournament on Saturday, Nov. 2nd. It is open to boys and girls from 6th – 8th grades. If interested see Mr. Augustine for more details.

Friday, October 18, is the first Kennett Middle School Dance. The dance is 6:30 to 8:30. Talk to your parents about signing up to help out through the bottom of the bookbag.

The 8th grade field hockey team defeated Fugett by a score of 1-0. In a battle from the opening whistle, Kennett was able to break the tie with a Mia Matthews goal, assisted by CJ Herring. Thanks to the tremendous effort by the Kennett defense, the lone goal would prove to be enough. Way to go Kennett!

Sneakers off to our KMS Cross-Country runners who ran a great home race against Peirce and Great Valley Middle Schools. Our team is getting faster and stronger week by week, continuing to cut their times. Special shout-outs go to the following runners for achieving new personal records and dropped times: Marco Brid, Lexi Hoyle, Haylie Jaffe, Mia Jeffrey, Sam Kjelstrom, Sarah Le Gault, Hayden Lyons, Sadie Maxwell, Yoni Mendez, Ally Moltchanov, Alec Salameda, Naz Sarikaya, Sam Spisak, Brendan Wardwell, Sean Kelley, Joey Lozada, Maddie Olivier, Karine Tan, and Jessica Zavala.
