Friday, October 29th

Good Morning, KMS.

Today is Friday, October 29, 2021. Today is Day 1

Cross-Country Team,

I full heartedly agree with the High School Coach, Coach Ram, who sent your parents a message on the level of competitive play at Thursday’s County Championship race. The way all team members finished filled my heart with Kennett PRIDE! The top runners representing KMS included: Ryann Borden, Dana Diokno, Sasha Ingle, Natalie Lucas, Ella DePietro, Kaylee Araton, and Cassie Coats for the girls and Luke Ganly, Trenton Kjelstrom, Carson Brewer, Josh Poulton, Chase Gibbons, Will Richardson, Ben Kessinger, and Quin Williams.

Team, don’t forget we have an early dismissal today. Also make sure to turn in your last-minute spirit wear order forms and submit your uniforms by this Monday, Nov. 1. See you soon! Coach J.

Happy Friday KMS! Today is a Kennett Square Power Up Day! This means that all Kennett Squares are worth double! Please have your Kennett PRIDE on display and try to earn a Kennett Square today!

Marking Period one ends on Tuesday, November 9th. Please make sure you are checking your grades on Skyward and speaking with your teachers.

Thank you to everyone who participated in this week’s Red Ribbon Week activities and joined in the fight against drugs and alcohol.

As always, please wear your mask so it is fully covering your nose and mouth at all times.

Have a great day KMS.

Are you wearing fun socks today? Today for Red Ribbon Week, we are socking it to drugs and alcohol. Don’t forget your hats tomorrow as we put the cap on drugs.

——-

Students, have you heard that you should never open a door and let an adult into our school? Even if the adult has a KCSD Badge?

All KCSD employees will be able to use their FOB to get into the building. They won’t need help from the student. There is never a need for a student to open a door and let an adult into our school.

For example, if a student is reading on a bench at the bottom of the B wing and an adult knocks on the back doors, waives, and asks the student to open the door, the student should never open the door. The student should notify another teacher.

Please do not open the door to let an adult into our building.

Congratulations to the Girl’s Volleyball Program on completing their season this past Friday.

Both teams saved the best for last in their last home game against Patton.

The 8th grade team played their best game all season, it was a good day.

The 7th grade team pulled out a nail biter 3 game set for the WIN.

Coach Leo and Coach Gambino are proud of how much growth both teams showed throughout the season.

Remember…team pictures are tomorrow. Please bring BOTH uniforms to turn in. We will be wearing BLUE for our pictures. Our picture time is 12:55. REMEMBER: Bring BOTH uniforms and your smile!

The 8th grade girls soccer team beat Lionville yesterday by a score of 1-0 in their final game of the season. The goal was scored by top striker, Ava Schlosser. Zoey Ernst topped off her incredible season with another shutout, supported by the strong defense that held on tight to that one goal lead. The girls finished the season with a winning record.

—-

The 7th grade girls soccer team tied Lionville by a score of 1-1 with a last minute goal from Ryann Bennett, assisted by Ella Johnson off of a beautiful corner kick by Brianna Handlin. The girls became the only team to score against the Lionville 7th grade team ALL season. Big thanks to Lorenza Arriagada Turrent and Claire Cofran for chipping in to play goalie for the 7th grade team. Lorenza had a great save on a penalty kick to keep Kennett in the game.

To all the girls soccer players – great season. We are so proud of you!

As always, please wear your mask so it is fully covering your nose and mouth at all times. And one last thing, Don’t forget your hats tomorrow as we put the cap on drugs.

Did you know that the Kennett High School Homecoming Parade is this Friday, September 15? If you are interested in marching with KMS, we will line up behind in the KHS lower parking lot at 6pm to march at 6:30.

The parade route will take us up Broad Street and back down Union Street, so we can watch kick off at 7pm

I don’t know if I’m more excited to march in the parade, watch the football game, the crowning of the King and Queen, or hear the amazing KHS marching band. All I know for sure is that I will definitely be there. Will you?

As always, please wear your mask so it is fully covering your nose and mouth at all times.

Have a great day KMS.

Today is Day 3

Our KMS 7th grade FH team showed great grit and determination as they fought for a win against rival Avon Grove. Great defense played by Vivian Skidd, Sienna Centrella, Karoline Olintz, and goalie Abby Turnbull. Our dynamic midfield diamond played by Margo Swartz, Maggie Kelly, Katie Hanrahan, and Kira Tinney was aggressive and shined throughout. Last, but not least, our intimidating front-line attack was dominated by Eme Hall, Cat Chiomento, and Ellie Peltz.

Each of the 11 players dug deep and played well to win 2-1. Congrats ladies. Let’s keep this record going!

The girls soccer team beat North Brandywine yesterday by a score of 2-0, with goals from Ava Schlosser and Claire Cofran. Zoey Ernst reeled in another shutout. The girls’ next home game is tomorrow against Avon Grove. Come out and cheer them on!

The “sixth sick sheik’s sixth sheep’s sick” is believed to be the toughest tongue twister in the English language.

As always, please wear your mask so it is fully covering your nose and mouth at all times.

Thank you, Nurse Shannon, for organizing the vaccine clinic yesterday after school. We are proud of you. And we’re all safer because of your efforts.

On Monday, both the 7th grade and 8th grade boys soccer teams defeated Fugett. The 8th grade team won by a score of 5-1 and the 7th grade team won by a score of 5-2. Both Alex and Parker played well in goal. Our next home game is Monday, October 11th here at KMS against North Brandywine Middle School. Come out and support both teams!

The amazing girls 7th and 8th grade field hockey teams rocked their way to wins against Great Valley! Congrats ladies. Go Blue Demons. Kennett defeated Great Valley 2-1 in 8th Grade Field Hockey action. Kennett was led by goals from Rhyan Braun and Stella Houghton. Maeve Wells and Evy Guzzio picked up the assists. The Kennett attack of Morgan Carter, and Molly Kauffman kept the pressure on the entire game. Saige Pfeifer, Taya Wuchter and Sarah Dahms controlled the mid-field. The defense of Anya Kauffman, Abby Rosenberg, Ella Freedman, Molly Spisak, and Bryn Schoenthal kept the Great Valley offense at bay, limiting the shots on goalkeeper Charlotte Mack who made 3 saves. Way to go Kennett!

The girls soccer team tied Great Valley on Tuesday with a score of 1-1. Ariana Peterson had her first goal of the season! The team’s next home game is next Wednesday. Be sure to come out and support them!

Congratulations to the 7th and 8th grade Girls volleyball teams. They both beat Stetson Yesterday.

8th Grade won decisively in two very closely matched games. 25 to 23 and 26 to 24. The triumphant return of Casey Kennedy to the floor provided a spark of energy that fired up the entire team. GREAT TEAM WIN! So proud of our athletes!

7th Grade battled and won the game in 3 matches. Strong serving from Lila Edwards, Ana Swed and Kamryn Small led the 7th Grade team to victory. After a 19-25 loss they fought back to win 25-20 forcing the third match. In a back and forth battle, Kennett took the win 15-13. Another Great Win! Go Kennett.
