Five-Time School To Watch Designee
Kennett Middle School (KMS) has been designated as a Pennsylvania "School to Watch" (STW) for the fifth time in twelve years. The STW program recognizes middle schools that exemplify research-based criteria for student achievement.
KMS is one of only six schools in the state to have been re-designated four times, a unique accomplishment. The STW designation requires continual improvement, which KMS has demonstrated under the leadership of Principal Jake Moore.
"Schools to Watch gives us a roadmap to build on our strengths and address future considerations," said Moore. This dedication to growth has enabled KMS to thrive even during the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The STW committee praised KMS for adopting new instructional methods, leveraging technology, and maintaining a culture focused on student learning. They noted that KMS has "overcome barriers to achieving excellence" throughout the disruptions of the past year.
Looking ahead, KMS plans to further integrate personalized learning and expand its focus on social-emotional development and college/career readiness. The school community eagerly anticipates celebrating this latest STW re-designation.
