Flexible Instructional Day (FID) & Emergency Instructional Time (EIT)
As part of our ongoing efforts to provide more flexible learning opportunities for our students and ensure continuity in education, the District will only use FID after we exhaust three traditional snow days.
FID Days are an essential part of our district’s plan to accommodate unforeseen circumstances, such as weather-related closures or other emergencies, without disrupting students' education. These days allow students to engage in learning from home, using a combination of digital tools, assignments, and resources provided by their teachers. This approach not only ensures that learning continues but also provides our families with a level of flexibility that has proven beneficial.
Planning for FID
Teachers are responsible for preparing assignments, activities, or resources that students can complete during a Flexible Instruction Day. This could include online lessons, reading assignments, project work, or other materials that support ongoing learning.
Technology & Accessibility
We will ensure that all students have access to the necessary technology, including devices and internet, if needed. If you have any concerns about accessibility or need assistance, please let us know so we can support you and your child(ren) effectively.
Communication
We will establish clear expectations with your child, including providing guidelines on how to submit work and clarify any deadlines. While we want to keep FIDs as flexible as possible, we ask that your child completes and submits work within the directed timeline.
Next Steps
We will be working to further plan FID protocols to ensure our students get the most from FID days. Together, we will ensure that our students continue to thrive in the classroom or remotely from home.
